iPhone 13 & 13 Mini

The brand new iPhone 13 and 13 Mini had some very minor upgrades this year. The most important upgrades being the smaller notch, reduced by about 20% compared to the iPhone 12. As well as a slight camera redesign, now the rear cameras on both the 13 and 13 Mini are diagonal instead of vertical, which look unique but not necessarily pretty. Not to mention that the rear cameras finally get Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The rest of the upgrades are your usual yearly specification bump: New A15 Chip, 28% brighter screen, and Longer battery life.

iPhone 13 Pro & 13 Pro Max

If you look back in time… you’d notice that Apple sticks with a specific theme for its iPhones every 3 years. The iPhone 6, 7, and 8 were all similar. The iPhone X, 11, and 12 were all similar. That’s why we expected a huge redesign from Apple… but all we got was a 20% smaller notch. Though the design is basically the same, the specification were bumped quite a bit. At last but not least, the new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max come with a 120Hz screen. This is a huge upgrade over the iPhone 12’s 60Hz display. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max cameras have been upgraded significantly. The biggest upgrades include: Macro Photography, Macro Videography, all new Photographic Styles, and Cinematic mode. The iPhone 13 Pro’s camera sensors are now bigger, 1.9µm instead of 1.7µm. Night mode photography also got a huge upgrade, with lower aperture that allows for more light to be captured. Again, the rest of the upgrades are the usual yearly upgrade: A15 Chip and longer battery life. Overall, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are good upgrades, not revolutionary though…

Iwatch 7

Apple Watch Series 7

Perhaps the thing we liked most about this year’s Apple event. The Apple Watch Series 7 did not get the upgrade it deserved, nor the long waited squared sides redesign. However, the increase in display size is pretty impressive… specially for a daily Apple Watch user like me. The new display is 20% larger, with 40% less bezels. All this screen size will benefit from WatchOS 8’s new features, such as the full size keyboard. And the last upgrade is the 33% faster charging. Not the biggest upgrade, but still pretty awesome!

iPad Mini 6

The iPad mini finally got the upgrade it deserves for a long time. No more chunky bezels, no more home button, and more. The new iPad Mini 6 is following in the footsteps of its bigger brother: the iPad Pro. iPad mini 6 now supports: 5G, USB-C charging, and the 2nd Gen Apple Pencil. Not to mention the increase in GPU/CPU performance, as well as the liquid retina display. The iPad Mini 6’s front camera also now supports Center Stage. The iPad Mini has finally joined the family, with a big comeback as well! The new iPad mini 6 will start at a whopping $499.

just “iPad”

This year’s budget iPad got some new features, not much though. The new iPad still didn’t receive support for the 2nd gen Apple pencil, and still has the same “Chunky Bezel” design as last year. However, it finally has a True Tone display (which some really like…). After all its just the “iPad”, starting at $329.
